About Our Troop
Troop 105 was founded in 1973, making it one of the longest-tenured boy scout troops in Noblesville.
We meet year-round and have at least one camping trip per month-including in the winter. We go backpacking, spelunking, climbing, fishing, biking, canoeing, swimming, hiking, gaming, orienteering and more.
Troop 105 is a smaller troop that gives all the boys leadership opportunities, and we have fun learning Scout skills and Scout ways. All outings and activities are selected and led by the Scouts themselves. Come see the “Patrol Method” in action!
Meeting Information
Troop 105 meets Monday evenings at Noblesville First Christian Church on Herriman Boulevard from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., upstairs in our Scout Room 212.
Meetings are planned and run by our scouts and generally focus on learning and reinforcing scout skills, rank advancement, and planning for upcoming events.
All Webelos scouts are welcome to come to any of our Troop meetings and on any of our non-High Adventure outings.
Contact the troop to let us know when you’ll be coming to visit.
Troop Leadership
Troop 105 holds elections for Assistant Senior Patrol Leader (ASPL) twice year in May and November. The ASPL postition is a one-year commitment. He serves for six months as the assistant to the Senior Patrol Leader (SPL), and then steps into the SPL role for a six-month term.
Beyond SPL and ASPL, scouts have many leadership opportunities, including Patrol Leader, Troop Guide, Quartermaster, Order of the Arrow troop representative, Scribe, and Historian. Scouts serve 6-month terms for each of these roles.
Current Leadership
Senior Patrol Leader – Joey H.
Assistant Senior Patrol Leader – Sawyer W.
Troop Guides – Elias U.
Warthog Patrol Leader – Gavin M.
Luminous Lynx Patrol Leader – Logan A.
Adult Leaders
Our troop could not run smoothly without our adult leaders. Adults in Troop 105 work closely with the scout leadership to plan and execute meetings, teach scouts how to lead others, plan campouts and other troop activities, help with advancement, and transport scouts (and all of the troop equipment) to events. We welcome all of our scouts’ adults to share their individual skills and talents with the troop.
Current Adult Leadership
Chartered Org Representative – Janet Jaros
Committee Chair – Tony Jung
Treasurer – Erik Stenke
Scoutmaster – Chris Blackwell
Outdoor Chair – Chris Sheaves
Advancement Chair – Dana Harness
The Patrol Method
Troop 105 uses a multi-age version of the patrol method. Most troops of all different sizes use the age-based patrol method, where as each group of scouts crosses over into the troop, they form a new patrol.
The scouts in Troop 105 decided to create patrols of all ages. This allows younger scouts to build relationships with older scouts within the troop, and allows older scouts to teach and mentor the younger scouts.
When a scout crosses over to Troop 105 from Cub Scouts, he has a month or two to get to know the scouts in each of the patrols before choosing which patrol he will join. There is a lot of (friendly) competition between the patrols to get the new scouts to pick one patrol over another. It is a great way for the new scouts to feel included in the troop, and to encourage the older scouts to engage with the younger scouts.
Visit Troop 105
We schedule multiple Webelos-centered meetings and activities in the fall of each year, where Webelos scouts and their parents can come meet Troop 105. If you or your Cub Scout troop is interested in joining us, please feel free to contact us and let us know.
If you are new to scouting – or to Noblesville – and want to see what Troop 105 is all about, contact our scoutmaster about attending a meeting. We meet every Monday at 7pm at Noblesville First Christian Church on Herriman Boulevard.
